The town founded in 1620 by the Swedish King Gustaf II Adolf is today a charming historical town with 36.000 inhabitants. Kokkola is the centre of the Central Ostrobothnian region and is also the northernmost part of bilingual Finland (Finnish - Swedish).

Kokkola lies in the middle of Finland on a north-to-south axis N 63 50,4' E 23 08,4'. The distance from Kokkola to the Arctic Circle is the same as to the capital city Helsinki in the south.

The Kokkola region is a leader in the Finnish boatbuilding industry, producing about 60 % of the boats built in Finland.

The 7 Bridges Archipelago nearby, where the land is still emerging, is offering wonderful unspoilt nature, bright summer nights and also winter activities on the seashore.
