Sisimiut - perfect for family winter holidays

Sisimiut (Greenlandic for ‘Those who live in fox holes’) is where the traditional and the modern Greenland meet. Being situated 50 kilometres north of the Polar Circle makes Sisimiut one of the best places in the world for seeing Northern Light. Furthermore; due to the fantastic backcountry it is also one of the best places to enjoy dogsledding, snowmobiling and skiing.

In the evenings relax in the Arctic sauna and baths while watching the Northern Light dancing in the sky or join a Northern Light adventure on snowmobiles.

The town is a melting pot of old and new and everything in between. The area has been inhabited by humans the last 4500 years, so the area is filled with history.

Winter in Sisimiut is a feast of adventures; make the most of your time there by exploring the area by snowshoe, on skis or experience the ancient traditional way of travelling; Dog sledging in the Arctic nature just a few steps from your hotel. Depending on the ice situation, you may also choose to join boat excursions to remote abandoned settlements nearby

Morning flight with Air Greenland from Copenhagen to Sisimiut via Kangerlussuaq.

Meet and greet by our local representative in the airport followed by transfer to the hotel for information meeting and city tour by bus.
