International media is constantly writing about Oslo’s innovative architecture, museums, and neighborhoods, as well as everything that moves on the food, fashion, art, and music scenes. Over the last few years, several new quarters have been established in the city center, with exciting new activities and attractions. The Opera House, the new Munch Museum and the new National Museum are all well worth a visit!. Arrival and self-transfer to the hotel. Breakfast at your hotel. Morning: Get ready for a guided public sightseeing tour of Oslo - Oslo Panorama Tour – 3 hours An excellent choice to discover Oslo's highlights from a modern coach and with a local guide, even if you're short on time! Learn about the city’s history and culture, admire the main attractions in the city center and spectacular views from Holmenkollen Hill and experience a fascinating insight into the art of the most prolific Norwegian sculptor, Gustav Vigeland, as you walk through the unique Sculpture Park comprising more than 200 sculptures in bronze and granite. Train from Oslo to Myrdal. Your train is ready for boarding 20 minutes prior. The Bergen Railway is a unique experience on Northern Europe's highest-altitude railway line. One of the greatest challenges is the harsh and changeable weather. The line is exposed to deep low-pressure centers from the west, which can mean strong winds and heavy snow for part of the year. Keeping the railway open demands great effort and technical expertise. Change train at Myrdal – just across the platform! Mountain Railway down to Flåm and the Sognefjord. The Flåm Railway has been named one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world, and is one of the leading tourist attractions in Norway. The train runs from the end of Aurlandsfjord, a tributary of the Sognefjord, up to the high mountains at Myrdal station. The journey displays the very best aspects of Western Norway`s stunning scenery. Afternoon: Arrive Flåm and walk down to your hotel, located a short walk from the arriving point. Beautiful Flåm is situated in the innermost part of the Aurlandsfjord, a tributary of the 204 kilometers long and up to 1308 meters deep Sognefjord. Surrounded by steep mountainsides, roaring waterfalls and deep valleys, Flåm is a paradise for everyone looking for a one-of-a-kind experience with nature. Breakfast. This day – get ready for some fun on the fjord! Enjoy Winter Fjord Safari and then in the afternoon Snowshoe Hiking. Dinner and overnight at Flamsbrygga Hotel. WINTER FJORDSAFARI - UNESCO area wintertime with goat village stop Experience the Aurlandsfjord, the UNESCO world heritage Nærøyfjord and the charming little village of Undredal during wintertime. The tour begins in Flåm and takes you deep into the Nærøyfjord. Along the way stops will be made where your local guide will explain about the rich wildlife of the area, the distinctive nature and the cultural history of the tiny little villages and local farms scattered along the fjord. The many waterfalls will be frozen solid, the fjord is calm, the water clear and the snow lies just like frosting on the high, steep mountains. On our return from the Nærøyfjord we will make a stop to visit Undredal, idyllically situated on the shores of the fjord, surrounded by high mountains. In Undredal we will visit the local shop where you will be served some hot beverages and hear from one of the locals what life is really like living along the fjord. Here you will also have the opportunity to sample and buy the award winning local goat cheese. Attire and equipment: We will provide flotation suits, hats, gloves, goggles and pullover boots. We do wish to point out the necessity of dressing warm with wool and fleece and warm, comfortable shoes. If you are not dressed warmly enough you will get the option of hiring extra clothing so that you will have a comfortable and pleasant experience. Kindly meet up 20 minutes prior to departure for registration and to get dressed, 11.25.am Daily departures: 11.45.am. Fjordsafari docks in the centre of Flåm. Return to Flåm at 2.15.pm. Arrive back in Flåm – time for lunch before you head out for your SnowSHoe Walk at Stegastein? Lunch is not included. SNOWSHOE HIKING & VIKING EVENING AT ÆGIR BREWERY & PUB Come and experience the Norwegian winter on snowshoes! Join us as we visit Stegastein viewpoint in Aurland and enjoy the amazing view and experience how it is to hike on these traditional snowshoes. Your guide will tell you about the unique local nature, and hot beverages will be served during the hike. The trip is suitable for beginners, general fitness but no experience needed. The evening you spend in front of the fire in the award winning Ægir Brewery & Pub. A Viking meal of 5 courses (Seafood, reindeer, pork shank, fish soup and dessert) and 5 different kinds of beer will be served. Daily departure Flåm 3.30pm Meet up on the dock in Flåm at. 3.10pm for preparations ahead of the trip. Departure Flåm to Stegastein by minibus. Introductions to the use of snowshoes and hike. Approx. 1-1,5 hours. Arrival back in Flåm 6.00pm. Dinner served in Ægir 6.00pm-8.00pm Minimum 2 people - Duration: 2,5 hours. Afternoon: After arrival back in Flåm it is time to enjoy a 5-course true Viking Dinner at Ægir BrewPub. – Dinner is served from 18:00 to 20:00 Continue your evening with dinner at the Ægir Brewpub. Dinner includes smoked reindeer, shellfish, fish and shellfish soup, pork shank and dark chocolate ganache cake. You will be served 5 beers for your meal, one for each type of food. This package is a perfect way to experience the fjords and food of Norway in cozy surroundings OPTIONAL: (need to be booked in advance): FJORD SAUNA Chill out after a day filled with activities in a steaming hot sauna that is centrally located at the quay in Flam. Relaxation in Fjord Sauna, refreshing dip in the Aurlandsfjord in combination with spectacular fjord and mountain scenery in a noise-free environment makes this experience outstanding! Breakfast at the hotel. Morning: Self-transfer down to the pier in Flåm where you board the boat which takes you to Aurlandsfjord and the UNESCO protected Nærøyfjord. The Aurlandsfjord is a picturesque fjord where you can enjoy the view, while the fjord of Nærøy is one of Europe’s most narrow fjords surrounded by enormous mountains. Please meet up at least 15 min. before departure. Boat departure from Flåm Arrive in Gudvangen Leave the boat and enter the awaiting bus for transfer to Voss. Bus departure Gudvangen. Arrive Voss station, and make your way to the train bound for Bergen. Train departure to Bergen. Arrive in Bergen and walk to the hotel. Enjoy breakfast – spend a day in the colourful city of Bergen. Day at leisure, visit the Mount Fløyen via the Fløibanen, visit the Bergen Aquarium amongst more. Overnight and breakfast at Grand Hotel Terminus.
