Førde city, with its 11,000 inhabitants, is the county centre for Sogn and Fjordane County. Its central location makes Førde the most important commercial center between Ålesund and Bergen. There are 30 large waterfalls along the Gaular river system which was subject to a permanent nature conservation order in 1993. Nowhere else will you find so many waterfalls concentrated in such a small area and so easily accessible.
