Skagen, Denmark

Skagens Gren is the northernmost tip of the European continent where the meeting of two seas makes surreal wave shapes for miles out to sea. Walking out to the point, a derelict bunker at the edge of the beach is a stark reminder of the strategic importance of this particular stretch of the Denmark coastline.

According to locals, the reflection of the light in the sea and the width of the horizon creates a huge feeling of open space and drew a great many 19th century artists to the region. Nowadays, the large expanses of pristine beaches and clear waters are reason enough to visit this unspoilt wilderness.
