Callao is Peru's most well-known port. It serves both as important commercial and cruise destinations. It was initially established by Spain in 1537 in order to ship South American products to Spain. It is 7 miles from downtown Lima, but maintains some old and beautiful wooden colonial mansions. The Plaza Galvez, Plaza Grau and Iglesia Matriz church are all woth seeing.
