Northern Lights Around Iceland

Explore North, East and South Iceland in Pursuit of the

8 Days / 15 locations in Iceland

This incredible northern lights photo was taken by Jónína Guðrún Óskarsdóttir in the small fishing village of Fáskrúðsfjörður in the East Fjords of Iceland. “Awe-inspiring, magical, breathtaking, spellbinding, mesmerising”, these are a few of the words to describe the Aurora Borealis or - as they are more commonly called - the Northern Lights. In fact, no amount of words or, indeed, images could ever do real justice to the Aurora. It is one of Mother Nature’s most spectacular natural phenomena. The beautiful thing is that the Northern Lights are always different. Sometimes they come in spirals, at other times as ribbons or bands, always varying in speed, colour and intensity. Seeing the Northern Lights is simply a wonderful experience and one that will live with you for a lifetime.

There are many Northern Light tours on the market, but for the first time in the 70-year history of Guðmundur Jónasson Travel we offer a winter group series around Iceland. We invite you to be a pioneer and join this classic tour around Iceland’s “Ring Road” which offers winter nature at its very best. Explore striking landscapes, young lava fields, roaring waterfalls, deep fjords, majestic glacial ice-caps, black lava sand beaches, basalt formation, volcanoes, hot springs in moonlike surroundings, iceberg lagoons and more. We travel to North, East and South Iceland in pursuit of the awe-inspiring, magical, breathtaking, spellbinding and mesmerising Northern Lights.
