Itinerary

 
Day 1     Copenhagen
Accommodation: Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel

Arrival transfer from the airport to your hotel. In the early evening your tour escort will arrange a get-together to give information about the tour and give you a chance to meet your fellow travellers.

 
Day 2     Copenhagen
Accommodation: Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel
Meals: Breakfast

In the morning you will enjoy a city tour, during which you will see The Little Mermaid guarding the port, Nyhavn with all its restaurants and small boats, the City Hall Square and other main features of Copenhagen. The afternoon is free for individual visits, perhaps to the Tivoli Amusement park or an optional tour to Roskilde.

 
Day 3     Copenhagen - Helsingor - Helsingborg - Oslo
Accommodation: Admiral Hotel
Meals: Breakfast

Early departure by coach to North Sealand and the town of Helsingoer, famous for the Kronborg Castle where Hamlet was set. Here you catch a ferry over to Helsingborg in Sweden and then continue along the Swedish West Coast. Towards the evening you will arrive in Oslo, situated by the Oslofjord. Overnight at Scandic Kna Hotel or similar.

 
Day 4     Oslo
Accommodation: Admiral Hotel
Meals: Breakfast

In the morning you will enjoy a city tour including a walk around the Frogner Park, decorated with sculptures by Gustaf Vigeland. You also pass the City Hall and the main street, Karl Johan, leading to the Royal Palace. Afternoon at leisure for independent activities.

 
Day 5     Oslo - Geilo - Hardangerfjord - Bergen
Accommodation: Clarion Hotel Admiral

Today you enter the area of the forests and rivers of Norway, following the Hallingdal Valley, known for its folkloric tradition, and continue to Geilo, a winter resort, refreshing also in the summer. You cross the Mountain plateau of Hardanger and on the descent towards the Fjord you pass the famous Waterfall of Voringsfossen. You cross the Hardangerfjord by ferry and continue along its shores to Bergen, the Gateway of the Fjords. This is Norway's second largest city and it is beautifully situated surrounded by 7 mountains. Overnight at Clarion Hotel Admiral or similar

 
Day 6     Bergen

In the morning you will be introduced to this remarkable City of the old Hansa. You will enjoy the view of the Bryggen area of old wooden houses that is part of the UNESCO World Heritage, as well as the traditional Fish Market. Afternoon free to explore Bergen.

 
Day 7     Bergen - Stalheim - Sognefjord - Geilo
Accommodation: Comfort Hotel Ringerike
Meals: Breakfast / Dinner

Today you will enjoy traveling through the fjord area with fantastic views from Stalheim as well as a 2 hrs cruise of the Sognefjord, the largest fjord in Norway. Coach from the fjord to the mountain resort of Geilo where you stay the night. Dinner and overnight at Bardola Hotel or similar.

 
Day 8     Geilo - Karlstad
Accommodation: First Hotel Amaranten
Meals: Breakfast

Today you continue through the Valdres area and then you enter the county of Varmland in Sweden. You will drive through areas with typical Scandinavian scenery and thick forests, which will evoke the atmosphere of the fairy-tales of Trolls and mystery. Overnight at Clarion Hotel Plaza or similar.

 
Day 9     Karlstad - Stockholm
Accommodation: Central Hotel
Meals: Breakfast

Today you will travel past forests, lakes and as well as agricultural areas as you approach Stockholm. Arrival in Stockholm around lunch time. Afternoon free. Overnight at First Hotel Amaranten or similar.

 
Day 10     Stockholm
Accommodation: Central Hotel
Meals: Breakfast

In the morning, a city tour will show you this beautiful capital, built on 14 islands with bridges and viewpoints giving an enchanting feeling of space and light. You will walk around the charming Old Town with its narrow cobbled streets, passing The Royal Palace as well as the Great Church, where the present King and Queen were married in 1976. The afternoon is free for other optional excursions or visits to the City Hall, the Wasa Museum or a tour to Uppsala and Sigtuna.

 
Day 11     Stockholm - Helsinki
Accommodation: Overnight Ferry, Stockholm - Helsinki
Meals: Breakfast / Dinner

Morning free in Stockholm. In the afternoon, transfer to the harbor to embark on the cruise ferry Silja Line. The ferry departs from Stockholm and slowly travels down the glorious archipelago, past numerous islands. Dinner on board. Choice of entertainment on board, bars, shops and Casino.

Overnight in an outside cabin.

 
Day 12     Helsinki - St. Petersburg
Accommodation: Sokos Olympic Garden Hotel
Meals: Breakfast

Buffet breakfast on board while you sail into Helsinki. Directly after you disembark there is a 2 hours guided tour of Helsinki covering famous sites like the Senate Square, Uspenski Cathedral, Parliament House Finlandia Hall, Sibelius Park & Monument, Church in the Rock and much more. The tour ends at the rail station or the airport for a trip to St. Petersburg. Arrival in St. Petersburg, check in at Hotel Sokos Olympic Garden or similar. The rest of the evening free.

 
Day 13     St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg is an amazing city! Its imperial palaces and museums enjoy worldwide fame, while the Neva River and the many canals have deservedly given the city the title "The Venice of the North". During the morning sightseeing tour we get acquainted with all the splendors of the city: the Peter Paul Fortress, the Winter Palace, St. Isaac's Cathedral, the Church of the Bleeding Savior, the Nevsky Convent and much more. The afternoon offers a visit to the world famous Hermitage Art Museum. In the evening an optional visit to the Nikolaevsky Palace with an exciting Russian folklore show on the program.

 
Day 14     St. Petersburg

After breakfast there is an optional excursion to Peterhof, an uncontested masterpiece of Peter the Great, with the impressive Grand Palace, the Grand Cascade and Water Avenue and the wonderful parks. In the afternoon there is an optional guided shopping tour to fashion and souvenir boutiques on the Nevsky Prospekt. In the evening an optional Russian dinner at Restaurant Na Zdoroviye.

 
Day 15     St. Petersburg - Moscow
Accommodation: Novotel Moscow Center
Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast at transfer to the airport for an 1 hour flight to Moscow. Arrive at Moscow Airport combined transfer and short orientation tour of Moscow ending at your hotel. Check in at Novotel Moscow Center or similar.

 
Day 16     Moscow

Morning city tour of "The Mother of Russia", a genuine Russian city with the Kremlin and its onion domed cathedrals. The dramatic changes over the last decade has made the city to one of the most dynamic metropoles of the world. The morning sightseeing tour include all the highlights of this vast city including the Red Square with Kremlin, the Theater Square with Bolshoi Theater, Sparrow Hills with Moscow University and a visit to the famous Moscow Metro. In the afternoon a tour of Kremlin is offered with a visit to a cathedral and the Armoury.

 
Day 17     Moscow
Accommodation: Novotel Moscow Center
Meals: Breakfast

The day offers an excursion to Novidevichy Convent, a 16th century cluster of sparkling domes, one of the city's most beautiful group of buildings, full of history and treasures. The adjacent Novodevichy Cemetery is Moscow's most prestigious resting place after the Kremlin. Afternoon at leisure.

In the evening an optional visit to the famous Russian Circus.

 
Day 18     Moscow
Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast, transfer with assistance to the airport for your flight home.

 

Notes

Passenger luggage transportation is limited to 1 piece of luggage of normal size (ie. max cms 60 x 80 x 35 or max inches 23,5 x 31,5 x 13,8) per person. Should this be exceeded there will be an additional charge. (This excludes hand luggage).

Important notice: Please be aware that a visa is required for Russia. All

passengers will have to apply for this visa at their nearest Russian Embassy. In order for Scantours to procure with the visa invitation letters we ask you to provide the following information immediately upon making a reservation: Full names (as in passport), gender of all passengers (male/female), nationality, passport number and dates of birth of each passenger. It is the passenger's final responsability to ensure they have all necessary and adequate documents and permits to enter Russia.
