Hveragerdi village holds its charm in all seasons. The white nights of summer are filled with migratory bird song, while the dark winter skies are brightened by the magnificence of the northern lights. Hveragerdi has a peaceful small town feel and is easily explored on foot.

That’s the real beauty of the location.

Icelanders term it as ‘upp i sveit’ or ‘out in the country’. It’s somewhere you go to relax, de stress, and get away from the daily grind - to recharge amidst magnificent, natural surroundings.

Itinerary

Guided transfer will depart from Keflavik Airport to Hveragerdi at 08:00 and 17:30. Duration about 90 minutes.

You will be dropped off at your hotel, where you have the day open for your own activities. Overnight in Hveragerdi for the next 4 nights

In case flights land late, and guests miss their connection to Hveragerdi upon arrival, Iceland Travel will refund the transfers. However we cannot be held responsible for any extra cost that might occur.

Welcome Walk: In the evening, a local guide will meet you at Hotel Örk at 8.30pm for a welcome walk. You will get to know the charming town, its history, geology and culture from a local perspective. It’s an easy walk, seeing the new hot spring area that was formed in a big earthquake in 2008, and even see how to boil an egg in one of them. Also you will get a better understanding of how people use the hot springs water for heating up greenhouses, growing vegetables, and last but not least what it feels like to live with a hot spring in the back yard.

Today you will be picked up by your guide between 09:30am-10:00am.

The highlights of this tour are Þingvellir National Park, a remarkable historical and geological site, which is located by Lake Þingvallavatn, the largest lake in Iceland. The beautiful canyon running through the park is actually the meeting point of two of the earth's tectonic plates.

Next stop is Gullfoss, a two tiered waterfall where you will see thousands of tons of icy water thunder majestically down into a deep canyon.

Finally Geysir geothermal area where bubbling hot springs and geysers are abundant. Here you'll find Strokkur, the most active geyser in the area, spouting up to 25-30 meters every few minutes.
