Bergen is located on the west coast of Norway in the heart of the fjords. As a UNESCO World Heritage City and a European City of Culture, the region has the ideal combination of nature, culture and exciting urban life all year around. Bergen is one of Norway’s oldest cities, with a history that stretches back to the last half of 11th century. During the Middle Ages, the city grew rapidly, and the German Hanseatic League

established itself at Bryggen in the middle of 14th century. Bergen was an important city for trade and shipping, and until the 1830s it was Norway’s largest city. Today Bryggen is one of the biggest city attractions. It is included in UNESCO’S list of World Heritage and is important part of the city’s identity and charm. Let yourself stroll through

Bryggen’s narrow alleyways and overhanging galleries and step back into the mists of time and a bygone era. Enjoy a cup of coffee or traditional dish in a local restaurant or bakery and find

yourself a little souvenir in one of the many small shops selling traditional and unique crafts. If you want to take a look at Bergen from above- visit Fløybanen funicular! Situated in the heart of Bergen, Fløybanen will take you to the city top where you can enjoy the stunning view and escape the busy city life for a minute.

For the art lovers, Bergen has the impressive collection of unique Norwegian and international art treasures ranging from the classical to the contemporary. The collections at KODE are housed in a row of galleries lining the picturesque Lille Lungegårdsvann lake in the heart of the city with major collections of Edvard Munch, J. C. Dahl, Hans Gude and Nikolai Astrup to mention a few. Kodes art museum also show contemporary art, craft and design, a unique Chinese collection and, not least, the silver collection at Permanenten. In addition- you can also admire all the street art hidden in the streets and buildings of Bergen
